Contradiction

Benjamin Banneker wrote a letter to Thomas Jefferson stating his opinion on slavery. The letter was written on August 19th 1791.When looking into Benjamin Banneker's letter to Thomas Jefferson, he states that all Christians are brothers and sisters all are family, "however diversified in situation or color, we are all of the same family and stand in the same relation to him" (Banneker). In this quote Banneker refers to G-d. I believe an argument can be set to this someone may argue that the reason that Banneker said this was just to convince Thomas Jefferson in order to free all slaves. An individual may argue that it is not possible scientifically for all to be related and state that Banneker is a liar and is going against reality. Has he lost his mind? However all Banneker is attempting to do is set a good example and have Thomas Jefferson feel the "emotion" of his example.

  1. I think the context is good but not good enough I would suggest that you add more information to it maybe by using more direct quote from the book to give stronger support to your argument. Your topic sentence doesn’t also introduce the topic you were ask to discuss, i would suggest that introduce your ideas in your topic sentence. Also there is not a clear contradiction in what u saying I would suggest that u be specific about the contradiction you making.

  2. I agree with Aliou. It seems to me like you had two different contradictions but you couldn't quite word it right. I likethe contradiction of the belief of belong to one god , as Banneker believed, to what society might not accept (atheist for example) but then you touched upon the open contradiction that was frequently stated in the letter of the fact that Lincoln was religious yet would subject men of god to such a degrading and tortuous lifestyle. So I feel like it would have been really cool if you just explained both of these contradictions more so that way you couldve had two different contradictions stated from one text. Other then that your quote explanation was well written and it was a good blog.
